Aesthetic
The eye, the vessel, the cell — where every value in the system comes from.
The brand is an eye. Look closely at an iris and it's an explosion of color — a warm sun radiating from the dark pupil, cooler flecks toward the rim, all floating on the universal pinkish-white of the eye, under a wet glassy shine. The eye: the window to the soul, the halo everyone has. That is the emblem and the source of the entire palette.
| The eye | → | The system |
|---|---|---|
| Iris sunburst — warm fire from the center | → | Primary (Solar): amber → orange; the energy & action |
| Sclera — the universal pinkish-white | → | Ground: soft warm pink-white, light & airy |
| Outer-iris flecks — cool blues / greens / teal | → | Data accents (--data-*) + cool status; clinical clarity |
| Pupil — the dark you look into | → | Foreground: deep warm ink |
| Cornea — wet glassy shine over a matte iris | → | Material: glassy highlights over soft matte fields |
| Iris fibers — radial striations | → | Motif: the radial halo (the mark, heroes, data-viz) |
One line: a living picture of your health — a warm iris-sun on the soul's pinkish-white; alive, human, precise underneath. (Values live in Color; this page is where they come from.)
One body, three scales
A lumen is two things at once — a unit of light, and in anatomy the interior channel of a vessel. Lumens transport, flow, and provide structure — exactly what the design system does for the product. And a lumen in cross-section is a ring: the halo. The circle that recurs everywhere isn't decoration — it's the mouth of a vessel, the iris, the halo everyone has.
| Scale | Anatomy | Quality | In the system |
|---|---|---|---|
| Macro | the iris | explosive, rich, vibrant | the Solar palette, the sunburst, hero moments |
| Meso | the lumen (vessel) | liquid, smooth, glassy; transport · flow · structure | surfaces & material, motion, the ring/halo |
| Micro | cells | atomic composability | the five dots → particle clouds; components as cells |
Light from within
When light passes through living tissue, red blood and skin melanin give it back as glowing solar tones — the red-orange-amber of a backlit ear, a flashlight through a palm, dawn through closed eyelids. That transillumination is the Solar palette's origin: the primary, the glow, the gradient are light filtered through blood and skin, not a brand orange picked from a swatch.
The anti-Apple distinction: Liquid Glass reflects light coldly off a hard surface — specular, inert, architectural. Lumen glows from within — subsurface, warm, alive, vascular. Glassiness is welcome when it is biological: the liquid shine of a living channel, never frosted window-glass. Same optical depth; opposite soul.
Day & Night — circadian, not light/dark
Light and dark are reframed as times of day. Day is soft morning light — a light, airy, barely-warm ground; Night is warm evening — calm, dim, warm espresso, never black. Same Solar primary; the ground changes with the hour. And the neutrals are skin tones, not tinted grays: Day and Night sample two points on the human skin spectrum (light ↔ dark, cool ↔ warm, olive ↔ red). The undertone range is the long-term personalization axis — the halo is personal — a system that can one day wear anyone's undertone.
The living north star
Solar is one point on a warm spectrum the primary can travel (the Ember → Solar → Citrus flex is the seed), and Day/Night are two points on a continuous circadian range (dawn → midday → dusk → night). Eventually the surface responds to the hour, the season, the person's own state — the design breathes with the body it serves. The token architecture is already built for this; the UI is anchored on Solar × Day/Night for now.
